La Clusaz Summary

The charming resort of La Clusaz remains a quintessentially French mountain village, built beside a rushing stream amongst scenic wooded valleys. There are five main ski areas at La Clusaz, with a further 90km of piste in the neighbouring resort of Grand Bornand linked by a free bus included on the full Aravis Lift Pass. Night-skiing takes place once a week.

Whilst the runs are predominantly suited to novices and intermediates, most sectors offer opportunities for some off-piste skiing and the black Vraille run at La Balme leads to the ‘seriously steep’ speed-skiing slope. There are nursery slopes at village level and some others higher up giving beginners the chance to progress to the confidence building blues and greens as the week goes on.

The resort has been labelled a ‘Family Plus’ resort in France. As you might expect, nightlife in the resort is fairly low key but there is a wide choice of restaurants, a nightclub and several bars with a good atmosphere. Off the slopes, you can take part in a range of activities including tobogganing, ice-skating or swimming at the resort’s aquatic centre. Having a car in the resort can be useful as some of the apartments and restaurants are fairly well spread out.

All essential amenities are available in the village from shops, boutiques and banks to ski hire and equipment.
