Le Corbier Summary

The Les Sybelles ski area in the Maurienne Valley consists of six linked resorts including Le Corbier, St Jean d’Arves and St Sorlin d’Arves, with an extensive 310km of largely easy, intermediate runs. This area is undergoing continual improvements to the lift systems and pistes and offers a good value alternative to some of the better known large resorts. There are two snow parks, ski touring routes and cross country skiing trails as well as a varied network of pisted runs and some uncrowded off-piste.

Le Corbier is a modern resort offering comfortable self-catering apartments in purpose-built accommodation blocks which are conveniently linked to a covered shopping gallery with around 40 shops and restaurants. Many of the apartments here are south-facing with private balconies and great views, and all benefit from easy access to the slopes and ski lifts which is ideal for families and keen skiers alike. The resort is traffic-free (extensive free parking available), creating a safe environment for children, with activities to enjoy both on and off the piste.

Le Corbier is centrally placed within the ski area and has direct links to La Toussuire in one direction and St Jean d’Arves in the other. The local ski area consists of 90km of mainly gentle blue and green runs, so more experienced skiers will definitely want to head off further afield, perhaps to St Sorlin for off-piste or the ungroomed Valley Perdue run at La Toussuire. Beginners have a large nursery area with a moving carpet in front of the resort and lots of confidence-building runs directly above. Snowboarders have some wide, easy runs and a choice of terrain parks but won’t find anything too challenging.
