Valmeinier Summary

Most of the holiday accommodation at Valmeinier is situated in the modern, purpose-built satellite village at Valmeinier 1800. Part of the Galibier Thabor domaine, Valmeinier shares 150km of linked pistes with its larger neighbour Valloire in the next valley and offers plenty of scenic red and blue runs which are especially good for intermediates.

The old village at Valmeinier 1500 has several shops including a supermarket, souvenirs and sports equipment. The main tourist office is situated at 1800m which is the bustling resort centre with a choice of bars and restaurants and all essential amenities including supermarkets, ski hire, cash point, bakery, chemist, launderette and a crèche. There is also a disco, a couple of cinemas and a bowling alley for off the piste entertainment.

The ski area is divided into three sectors and offers plenty of wide, sunny slopes with some wonderful views. There is a new quad chairlift providing the link towards Valloire and a good choice of greens, blue and reds on both sides of the valley. Beginners are well-catered for on the nursery slopes close to the resort whilst experienced skiers can do some mogul-bashing or visit the Setaz sector for the best snow and most challenging runs.
