La Rosiere Summary

La Rosiere 1850 is situated in the heart of the Haute-Tarentaise on a south-facing balcony with superb views over La Plagne and Les Arcs. The Petite St Bernard pass, closed in winter, leads a spectacular trail through the Alps to Italy and La Rosiere’s ski area which has links with the resort of La Thuile across the border.

This small, purpose-built resort has been designed in a traditional style, in keeping with its surroundings, and is a quiet, family-orientated resort with France’s new ‘Famille Plus Montagne’ label. The skiing and boarding here is most suited to beginners and intermediates although the link to La Thuile means that more experienced skiers in your party can cover a wider area and discover some of the more challenging runs on the north-facing slopes over the border. There are good nursery slopes, shorts lifts and a children’s club with a ’snow garden’ at the main village level, with further nursery slopes near Les Eucherts. Exhilarating heli sking in Italy’s fresh powder can also be arranged.

Although not large, the resort offers a good range of essential amenities from supermarkets and a launderette to sports hire shops and clothing stores. There are lots of off piste activities available including a cinema, helicopter rides, snowshoeing along themed trails, dog sledding and parachuting. The Les Eucherts development, reached by a woodland pathway or by bus, has an ice rink and bowling alley.
